Norma (Nana) Welton |
With a heavy heart I report that the creative cooking force behind Nana’s Recipes has died. My mom, Norma (Nana) Welton, passed away in her sleep at the age of 94.
My mother’s childhood pain and struggle ultimately forged her strength to powerfully care for all she loved, a hallmark of her life. One of the ways she expressed that love was through nourishing all of us with tasty food and recipes — including her website visitors.
Mom's passion for creating our family's favorite foods — most especially chocolate delights — is sure to live on through this website named in her honor, and in those she has touched. I offer two examples.
My step daughter, Emily, paid the ultimate respect to her grandmother by lovingly creating Nana’s cherished Peanut Butter and Chocolate Nerd Candy and giving the treats to me (see image at right). What a beautiful gesture by Emily!
In another example, several people at Mom’s Celebration of Life vowed to prepare Shrimp Dip in Nana’s honor — another of her signature recipes. We have three variations of Shrimp Dip recipes on the website.
I’m going to do all I can to keep Mom’s sweet legacy alive through her beloved Nana’s Recipes website. I will continue updating it and adding recipes for as long as I can. My hope is to keep it going, even after I’m gone.
